Appearance:
Emi has a deceptively average build for girl her height. Her limbs and legs are thin around the wrists and ankles while her body is more pear shaped. She has light brown eyes with a small mole under her left eye and a reddish tint to her short hair from being outdoors. Emi tries to keep her hair tied back in a decorative scrunchy with two thin long violet colored feathers attached in a short ponytail so it wouldn’t whip around so much in her face. She also lacks many accessories as they get lost fairly easily or can hit her back in the face but has settled for two paracord bracelets from her brother’s advice. While on the go, she tries to always carry her backpack around of supplies as her own emergency kit and dress in two layers of a varsity style jacket with a slyph humming bird painted on the back over a random long sleeve turtle neck and bell bottom jeans over steel toe boots.
Currently lacks scars and freckles.
Belongings:
Violet colored Backpack for light travel
Iridescent painted framed goggles (shades of green, blue, violet)
Rope dart
Twine
A drawstring burlap sack
Compass
Sleeping bag
2 Cameras
A hair scrunchy decorated with two long feathers like a humming bird.
Smart Phone with a humming bird decorated case.
Personality:
Emi is the sort of person that tries not to worry too much or else she’d get early wrinkles. She tries to express herself in the moment with an abundance of wanting to learn about the people around her after spending her early years sheltered in fear of a bad weather. Off the cuff but with her heart on her sleeve, Emi keeps a fairly childish open mind that she tends to get along better with kids half her age than most adults. Her powers were fully developed by 18 once earning her license from the university so she feels there’s much time to make up for now that she’s able to fend for herself and find her way back home. With that she strives to let out her feelings to keep them off her chest or else she’d feel guilty about not doing so if ever swept by the weather.
Character Strengths:
Flexible - If the wind change then one must change with it. Emi understands she can only control so much externally and learned to keep her plans open for any alterations.
Affectionate - Emi has some pep in her to share that she is often quick to get close with people and quick on gifts of gratitude.
Simple - Over complicating makes decision making take too long. She’ll take people and problems at face value and go from there but that makes her quick to act to attend to what’s needed in the moment.
Character Flaws:
Gluttonous - Her body metabolizes food quicker than most people. Good for maintaining weight, bad for not retaining weight of feeling ‘full and heavy’ to stay grounded without material weights. And for the wallet.
Lackadasical - Getting swept away isn’t the end of the world anymore, or rather it can still be, but by that point once the initial shock passes it’s less about the sheer danger of getting thrown into the air are more ‘well, damn, this is inconvenient’. She’ll worry more about what to do after the landing than the initial fall that got her there but only so little more.
Abrupt - Emi feels a need to interject often when time is fleeting and her very being could be gone with the literal wind on a bad day. Be it an odd request or unintentionally grabbing hold, Emi would choose to seize the moment rather than keep quiet.
Backstory:
The story passed around in the family claim to have hailed from a group of wind onmyoji who long since stepped down service after their contract with a lord of the region was completed. They adopted the surname Oto and drifted their separate ways with different variations tacked on when one child has found family such as Otoa, Otoka, Otosa, and so forth. The 6th child took on Otoha when settling in the Hakone area during times when yokai began to experiment and infiltrate popular human tourist spots such and inns and springs to test their hospitality. A small livelihood was carved out divining weather patterns and opening a shoji screens workshop providing panels for the local inns.
Since the modernization of Japan, the tradition has long since fell off with the family living decently in the Hakone area as communication with the other relatives waned. Emi has grown up in the area following loose scriptures passed down from the first settled Otoha. The workshop for shoji screens was sold off to another family in exchange for maintaining a hefty founder’s discount grandfathered in with the new owners. When her abilities manifested, the unusual lack of body build became a fast apparent problem. In her youth, if not watched, she’d be easily swept away and found clinging to a tree till the fire department would get her down. Ever since then, Emi was always tethered by being held or carried frequently when outside.
During the years of going to school, Emi was told to stay indoors whenever the weather was windy that she’d often skip days of school to stay home during seasonal storms. At first Emi didn’t mind this at all but as her brother became interesting in a budding camping hobby, Emi wanted in on it too. One day the two siblings devised a way to keep Emi grounded while outside. At first it started with wearing extra clothes and trying to eat more or trying to fill her coat pockets with rocks. These were all either uncomfortable or so short lived and impractical. Eventually it got to the point of carrying her backpack everywhere till finding better management with her wind abilities after achieving her id for her control with her magic.
Nowadays, after some trial and error, Emi continues to tackle her struggling balance with nature but has come to take the small setbacks in better stride to no longer carry an army’s weight of supplies around all the time. With the influence of her brother’s camping hobby was Emi inspired to take up photography to make some money after winning honorary mention at a photo contest in the landscapes category. Seeing that there is an upside to her misadventures did the girl find a new avenue to explore when heading out.

Powers: Wind magic and paper manipulation.
Power Theme: Close enough to be a wind spirit or the ties of a wind tanuki but mainly it’s been a nature’s affinity in her family with varying results among members in how its manifested. Mainly Emi’s comes off as a spring wind or the voice on the wind. A whisper to a loud boom with movements to being a leaf on the wind and a drifting balloon, her powers focus wind amplifying her movement while also letting the wind sometimes carry her away for better or worse. Paper craft being a common medium to use in order to avoid spending too much energy on herself.
Rank C Ability: Husker, come!
Infusing wind magic to paperlike objects in the surrounding area, a dog is made. His body size changes with how many fallen leaves or paper is in the area. The smallest size is an animated paper origami dog. Mainly used for companionship and as an assistant. His body can inflate to lantern mode making it easy for Emi to ride in for shelter. He can even fly as a dog shaped dirigible in favorable weather. Isn’t great with rain and storms due to hectic crosswinds and lightning hazards. Named after an old family husky dog who passed away during childhood years ago. Can be used as a distraction but lacks durability to take hits.
Rank B Ability: Echo Chamber.
Releasing a piecing whistle sound, a gust of air flows and surrounds up to a 10 meter bubble area. Sounds created in this area starts to project from multiple direction for disorientation as the echos multiply making one lone person sound like six and three people sound like 18. People can freely walk out of this as only sound is trapped inside.
Rank C Passive: Lighter body:
Her affinity to wind expends upon her body to be light enough to be supported by wind magic and paper crafts effortlessly at the expense of of weight staying on average 25 lbs on an empty stomach and no extra weight than the clothes on her back. Her steps barely make a sound and falling, climbing and jumping are easier feats to manage. She could have a bad day and look to have gained 5 pounds or look about as average as any of her body type but due to high metabolism with her magic, Emi has a hard time staying well rooted to the ground due to this lighter than air effect. A fresh breeze, 19-24mph gusts can move her to be nudged in a direction while 30mph gusts bowl her over that, if not careful, can send her gliding down the road.
