5 fact about Christmas cakeAlso a fun episode where a Japanese Chef makes a Christmas cake Also, because Mass was fairly horrified, and I couldn't really believe it myself (because ENGRISH): For Merry Christmas: It’s an imported event, so most people would say merī kurisumasu (メリークリスマス). If you wanted to be formal, you could also say kurisumasu omedetō gozaimasu (クリスマスおめでとうございます). For Happy New Year: Most people would say akemashite omedetō gozaimasu (明けましておめでとうございます), literally “congratulations on the opening (of the new year).” The full phrase used in formal occasions is shinnen akemashite omedetō gozaimasu (新年明けましておめでとうございます).
