Appearance: She has brown bobbed hair, fair skin, and kind and bright light brown eyes. While she looks a bit of a slim strong, it was mostly from the archery training she had as part of her princess duties. As she grew up, she had worn very happy/cheerful clothes like sweet lolita fashion. Lots of bright, cute colors like pink, light blues, light purples, yellows, whites. She can wear her hair up in two little ponytails to get out of the way when she is cooking or working on something good.
Belongings: 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse cross aka Car, Bow and Arrows, credit card, phone, 2 cookbooks (one for foreign food and one for Japan), her stuffed animal (a light blue bunny named Keiji)
Personality: Naomi can feel like an innocent princess, kinda like some of the older disney princesses you would watch when you were younger. Kind, graceful and full of love for the world around her, she is determined to spread the peace to the world. She is a bit sheltered due to the questionable watchful eyes of her immediate family so she can be a bit naive. Though she really detests violence, she will fight to protect her friends if by any means necessary and she will support any who support her.
Character Strengths: Great cook- Over the years, she has obtained an interest in cooking delicious food. Seeing the amount of smiles she could make if she could give out cooked food to people, only increased her intent to make peace through food. she recently opened a new restaurant called Sparkles, which focuses on her sweets and is located in Sendai.
Very sweet/soft- She is a very peaceful woman, often treating everyone she meets as kindly as she knows. She often would try to make sure that you are properly taken care of. She finds it much easier to get along with other people and can charm them easier.
Animal lover- She loves animals, she usually will choose take a life of a human over a life of an animal if she was forced to make a choice. She believes they are innocent in the world of the supernatural and will need to be protected.
Open-minded- She is not at all strict when it comes to anyone that has different values. Not included are the obviously terrible philosophies but she can at least listen to why they chose to believe in that and won't get into fights over if her values are different. She might also bring unorthodox solutions to the problems some characters didn't consider. Also makes her a team player.
Character Flaws:
Naive- Being sheltered didn't really make her too wise for other's benefit so she can get wrapped up in others bad situations without realizing it for the second time. Kind hearted but naive is a delicate combo.
PTSD- It's a bit smaller than usual but it stems from her parents. While many people regard her highly, her own biological parents did not. She witnessed things that she shouldn't have to as a child and missed some life moments that she wish she could have with her parents. This allowed her to be on bad terms and a secret reluctance on becoming a future parent.
Very sensitive- She isn't the best for being talked down on or talking back if someone was bullying her. She will just cry and not be able to act on anything for a bit.
Not very strong- While she can hold her bow and arrow and aim it just fine, don't expect her to be lifting anything heavy for long periods of time, no matter how kind and reassuring she may gove that she can do it.
Backstory: Naomi was born under Masahiro and Kaguya for the Date clan, making her effectively a princess. It was, at first, a happy early childhood for her as she had been doted on both her father and mother, taking her out of the castle, through the plains and mountains, she found beauty in nature and the animals that lived in not only Sendai but most of Japan. She had also began to be taught how to cook by her mother, it was more simple recipes that a child can do. It gave her a lot of love for the world around her and for the people around her as well. So it became a bit of a surprise to her, when her parents decided and told her she wasn't going to succeed the clan. Another surprise that she found out, a more pleasant one, was that she was going to become an older sister when Masago was born into the family.
It didn't matter to her that she wasn't going to succeed the clan, and she instantly loved her little baby brother with all her heart. She requested that she would take up archery to try to first protect her brother as he becomes of age. She became good at it as she didn't like to cause any bloodshed up close caused by her. At first, that was fine for her parents to allow her to do but slowly as the months went by, it was more common of them to reject her hobbies and archery as Kaguya began needlessly worrying for her childrens safety and Masahiro not objecting to any of the things that Kaguya rejected. Masago, when he got older, saw this, he began training alongside her in archery in secret within the night. He also encouraged her to continue with her own hobbies in secret, as well as continue writing to Aunt Masako, who gave her gifts to keep in her room.
One incident changed the family forever. When Naomi was 13, she and Masago were training in the night as usual for their archery lessons. They had just got done when they were finally got caught by Kaguya. She didn't look all that right in the head and began to scream at both Naomi and Masago, chastising them heavily for such dangerous acts that they had done, even for the things that they hadn't even done. Naomi tried to stand up for her brother, trying to protect them but was pushed down by Kaguya. A wild look in her mother's eyes, Naomi grabbed her brother and ran across the courtyard. Amidst the chaos of the running, she heard things break behind them and the rest was a blur from there. When she finally was able to stop panicking, she looked to be sitting down with her brother in front of her, he had a little scar on his cheek from the ordeal. Masahiro found them and showed signs of guilt, that they heard the news in the couple of days that Kaguya would be going away for a long time, leaving Naomi and Masago not seeing their mother again even to this day.
More years went by, when she was 18 years old, and it was slowly getting back to normal but Naomi had seen Masahiro still be so offhandish with her and she was worried for Masago, even though it didn't seem to effect him that bad. She was scared that her mother would come back for revenge or worse, her father to get herself taken away too from the world. She had to get out of the castle itself and bought a small house on the outskirts of Sendai, where a large forest laid behind it. She also around this time fell back in love with cooking/baking and decided to open a restaurant called Sparkles. It was a massive success and it began to open her innocence back up as well as her very kind attitude.
One day, she decided to go for a picnic by herself in the woods. She wanted to find a nice little area to relax nearby in the fields of nature. Just about getting there though, she heard rustling in the leaves. Curious, Naomi went to go look. What she saw was a yokai, a baku, that felt weak. She felt so bad that he was in the forest suffering all by himself, so she fed him some of her picnic food to try to help him as well as take a nap by him. Nightfall came and she woke up, seeing that he was much better and grateful for the company. The baku gave his blessings towards Naomi, giving her some of his powers. While she had figured out some of the powers given on her own, she seeks to know more about the extent of how much Baku-san has given her, trying to help people along the way as she lives her life.
Family, Friends Etc: Date, Masahiro: Current ruler of the Date clan, he is very offhandish towards his family. He is 40 years old He is great with his finances toward the prefecture and province as a whole. He doesn't think highly of Naomi but gives great praise to his son Masago. He is skilled with a katana, clawing through his enemies like a dragon.
Date, Kaguya: Mother of Naomi and Masago. 36 years old She is an overprotective mother that worries about her children's safety. She swears by the phrase "Mother knows best". Her latest venture though, to try to make her kids better, particularly Masago, made Masahiro imprision and divorce her.
Date, Masago- 17 year old little brother of Naomi. He is the golden eye to his fathers status and he was promised to become the new leader of the Date Clan when Masahiro felt he was good and ready. Kind and considerate to his older sister, he often showed her little parts of the outside world when she was stuck in the home.
Ii Naoyoshi- Her younger cousin, she knew of him through her Aunt's letters towards her as when she was a child. She had never meant him in person but she hopes to bond with him and show him the things she had learned as well as the peaceful things in life.
Ii Masako- Her aunt and Mother of her cousin Naoyoshi. She could remember herself writing letters to her favorite aunt as well as recieve gifts from her. It kinda reminded her of a mother she didn't have.
Ii Naotake- Her uncle from Masako's marriage to him. She had heard tales that he was a skilled warrior and ruler of the Ii.
Ii Naoko- Her other cousin from Naoyoshi, she has heard of her similarly from her aunt's letters to her. She sounds kinda a lot like herself in her opinion.
Baku (Baku-kun)- A 200 year old yokai beast that she had rescued and nursed in the forest one day while she was out on her own picnic. He is a holy beast that has a body of a bear, head of an elephant, eyes of an rhinoceros, tail of an ox and legs of a tiger. He is a curious being as well as a well intentioned protector of her from bad dreams as well as the one who gave her some powers as a token of her kindness. It takes to eating the bad dreams of the people of Sendai.
Powers: She has rescued a yokai called a Baku and in return the holy beast gave her his blessing which is part of his powers. While she has to remain calm for the powers to take its fullest effect, it can be like a serene oasis of relaxation.
Power Theme: It is mainly a healing/support that doesn't have a lot of focus on battle. In fact, the idea of a Baku to me is a gentle beast protecting the happiness of everyone. The starting powers are more peaceful while later there might be more harder hitting offensive spells that can knock back more evil spirits to enbody why the baku is feared by so many evil spirits and yokai.
Rank C Ability:
A "light" armor: Naomi casts a small spell/blessing that gives either her herself or one other person some protection from spiritual attacks. for example, she can summon what looks like armor on any part of the body and they wouldn't feel weighed down and take a little bit less damage from magic like a fire ball. Lasts for 3 minutes.
Rank B Ability: A holy hug: Best Effectiveness against evil spirits and evil yokai. She touches the target and pulls them into a hug, focusing on making energy pure and good to push out the negative power and energy of the opponent to purify the soul. It can weaken them by up to 50% from their current power for stronger yokai while weaker yokai will turn to dust. This lasts for about 10-15 minutes. If she can physically hug the target, she can use this at it's full power, fulling purifying. She could also use this power to dispel negative effects from her allies and she could do it with a small group hug but less people would mean more power towards the purification. This leaves her open for certain yokais to possess her body if she isn't too careful and black ink representing the dark energy will drip off from her if used in succession.
Rank C Passive: Always nurturing: Naomi slowly gets healed a little bit each turn if she takes damage at any point. it takes about 5-10 minutes to either completely heal or increase the chances of survival depending on the injury.
