Affiliations: Tsubasa is a kunoichi that is contracted under the Takeda clan. You will often see her around the Takeda clan members or rubbing elbows with affiliate members. Her surname is Mochizuki, which is a family surname that is connected to the Takeda. What is complicated is that, like many girls carrying the Mochizuki surname, their past surnames were either buried or unknown due to their orphaned status. Chiyome Mochizuki herself originally selected orphaned girls, prostitutes, and clanless women to join under her banner to gather information, seduce and in some cases assassinate for the Takeda. Tsubasa is one such girl herself. Taken and raised to serve the Takeda clan by gathering information. Originally she was from the Kai province, which is under Takeda control. Kofu City specifically was where she was raised, which is filled with tourist destinations, shopping and hotsprings. A perfect place to learn to blend in, socialize and to get into all kinds of trouble.
Appearance:Tsubasa is very much involved with Gyaru subculture. Meaning, she has tanned skin, blond hair that is often styled and manicured nails. Her skirts and shorts are often short and she enjoys being very trendy. Gal/Gyaru culture is very much influenced by the flash Valley girls of California, and is a subculture that goes back to the 70s because of a Lee jeans advertisement that hit Japan. While Gyaru is her main style, because of her ability to disguise herself well, you may see her wearing different costumes or stylings to fit into wherever she is. Tsubasa herself is most fond of agejō style, which is a style typically worn by hostesses, and Gyaru serebū,which is a flashy style sometimes worn by celebrities. Her body is that of the classic femme fatale and she’s very aware of it, often playing to that string should she need to. Her hair is a honey blond, likely dyed, and her eyes are a soft blue, likely from contact/circle lenses. It’s hard to say what her actual hair and eyes might be, likely they are a soft brown, and her eyes likely gray. She tends to carry herself however she needs to based on the situation, but typically she will be projecting a very bubbly, coquettish style at whomever she is dealing with. Her friendly demeanor comes with a price though, she is often on the clock gathering intel and using things to her advantage. She has a weakness for open toe shoes, and bronzed, sunny makeup. Two notable marks on her body are a bite mark at the nape of her neck that looks like two moles, and a mark that looks almost like a spider on her lower back.
Belongings: Often seen with a purse that has a lot crammed into it. Firstly, she has an amazing makeup kit. This has everything you need to give one a full makeover. She has a phone, wallet with a few different cards in it.She also has a few tools of the trade, like microfilament wires (which she uses for fighting), a few drinkable supplements and a Tessen (or iron fan for deflection or defense).
Personality: Tsubasa has a bubbly personality on the outside, she’s very playful and exuberant. But on the inside, she is someone that is always burning the candle at both ends. There is always an angle or a trick to be had. She loves puzzles, she loves getting into things that she is not really supposed to be involved in. And she loves to be either the life of the party or the center of attention. She tries to keep a friendly air of mystery about her mostly. Unfortunately, there are times where she must do what most kunoichi do, which is get her hands very dirty. She’s not adverse to killing a target if she has to, but generally she would rather play the game. This nature has not only caused her to attract one yokai, but two, both that are convinced that they have a contract with her and not the other. In reality, she has made an ‘exclusive’ contract with both, telling both of them they are the only one she has pledged to.
Character Strengths: She is a quick thinker mentally. One to keep up with conversation or anything else coming her way. Tsubasa is also a great conversationalist and can be very distracting when she needs to be. As far as physically she is quite flexible and nimble, sporting almost unnatural catlike reflexes and grace. She’s also a lot stronger than she looks. While she tends to favor light weapons like her wires, she can use a sword when the occasion calls for it. Due to how crazy her levels of physical activity are, she has a very high metabolism.
Character Flaws:Deviant. She has no qualms about lying or stealing to get the things she needs. Sometimes this is in the form of a stolen credit card, or a picked lock. She’s not above digging up dirt to find out things she needs either.The gray area tends to be something she does a little too easily. Tsubasa is also a little shallow at times, this might come from being a bit too obsessive with visual details, she may not say anything if you have something on your shirt but she will notice it. Because of the high metabolism above, Tsubasa has a bottomless pit of a stomach. She is also not above putting things in her purse for later if she can get away with it. She also lies a lot, it’s almost second nature.
Backstory: Tsubasa’s original surname was not Mochizuki, but sadly she can not remember it. As a little girl, she was given over to a public orphanage and lived there until she was almost nine years old. During one of the many adoption events, she attracted the attention of an older, chestnut haired woman named Tsuyu. Tsuyu was a woman representing the Mochizuki, she looked here and there for young girls that were without family and could be polished into serving the Takeda family though work as a Kunoichi. Tsubasa’s bubbly personality and somewhat adorable features made her stand out among some of the other, more plain little girls. She was adopted right away and given over to training and education. Tsuyu was one of a small handful of women training girls to be Kunoichi. The other was Tsukiko Mochizuki. Tsukiko worked personally with the head of the Takeda, and was helping to raise his sons, as well as caring for the wife of the clan head. During her early training and education Tsubasa was delegated to serve the older woman when she was not away for training or doing minior missions. By the time Tsubasa turned thirteen, she was already running messages and doing more complex tasks for Tsukiko. At fifteen, she was assigned to shadow Katsumoto Takeda.
She did have a nasty habit of attracting attention. While she learned to make this a boon through the use of distraction, it garnished her a lot of unwanted attention. Primarily by a nekomata. This nekomata stalked her for months, toying with her by trying to frighten her in various ways. Tsubasa refused to play into such a game and pretended it was not there, causing it to escalate. This led Tsubasa to be punished with extra training in the mountains. During this, she managed to be chased by the nekomata into a Jurogumo den. The Jurogumo had not anticipated that it would get to dine on both a young girl and a nekomata, in fact, if anything, it salivated with greed over devouring the both of them. The nekomata was itching for a fight after getting the runaround with Tsubasa. Both yokai wished to devour Tsubasa, and were both insistent on who had the right way to do so. Tsubasa did not help by not only encouraging them separately but making a pack with both of them.”Well you did follow me around for a week or so, and it was clever how you tried to frighten me,”she said to the nekomata. And when the spider was in earshot,”there is no one that would challenge how lethal and beautiful you are, how could this mangy cat dare to challenge you?” She buttered both of them up and lamented how the other would eat her first if they weren’t careful, without their protection of course. This dumped gasoline on both of them. Both yokai charged her, the nekomata leaving a bite mark on the nape of her neck, and the jurogumo bit into her lower back, both yokai leaving their mark, and, at least for now, repelling the other.
It’s an odd partnership, and Tsubasa knows that she’s on borrowed time. Eventually one will overcome the other and claim her soul, but for the time being, she cheated them both out of a meal. It’s something that she will chuckle about to herself, somewhat bitterly, because she has survived, but at what cost. The life of a kunoichi is a dangerous one, filled with glamor and lies. When she came back from training, she had even more of a thirst for life, much to the annoyance of Tsukiko. Tsukiko was shown the marks and made aware of Tsubasa’s predicament.
Family, Friends Etc:
Tsuyu Mochizuki- A chestnut haired woman in her forties. She is stern and soft spoken, rarely having to speak over someone or having to repeat herself. She has the understated brilliance of a pearl, and in her youth had worked for a period as a geisha. She currently works for the Mochizuki and Takeda, looking for young girls to train in the ways of the kunoichi.
Tsukiko Mochizuki- Thought to be older aunt of the Takeda family, Tsukiko works diligently for the Takeda family keeping the head of the household safe. She also cared for the lady of the house (who was stricken with dementia and passed away), and later her sons. For Tsubasa she takes her name prefix from both her and Tsuyu, but she was primarily trained by Tsukiko as a maid of the household as well as a kunoichi. She will often give Tsubasa marching orders.
Katsumoto Takeda- The younger of the Takeda sons. Tsubasa knows him fairly well, having been ordered to shadow him and keep him safe since she turned fifteen, but she has known him a bit longer than that, watching his transition from softhearted cry baby to charismatic bancho. She is never that far from him, being a fixture amongst his gang, and is usually there to help him, tease him, or just generally annoy him.
Kuroka (nekomata)- A meanspirited nekomata that Tsubasa caught the attention of. If she is in human form, she looks like a devilish young girl with catlike eyes. In her cat form, she is a calico with a nub of a tail. She is often hungry and can be placated with meat, shiny things and treats. She loves sparkly, crinklely things, and sometimes the strange things that come out of capsles. (Made a pact with Tsubasa rivaling Kinehime.) One of two yokai wanted to eat Tsubasa, who was later tricked by her. Currently she hangs around, hoping for Tsubasa or Kinehime to slip up.
Kinehime (jurogumo)-A very hungry and vain spider. She is often seen as a white haired woman with very lovely features. Her vanity and her appetite often get the better of her. She can be bribed with fashionable things and tea snacks. (Made a pact by accident with Tsubasa, mistakenly so.) One to two yokai tricked into a pact with Tsubasa. While she is not happy about it, Tsubasa seems to bribe her with a lot of things a fashionable lady would want. She leans more towards things like classic fashion, Rocco, Channel. She's a very fancy, snooty spider. Heaven help Tsubasa if she gets it wrong.
Mamoru Muira- A local host that moonlights as a writer. He is a host at Stella Fortuna, a host club in downtown Kyoto. He is serene, loves poetry and has a soft demeanor. Well loved by patrons for his princely looks. He loves to sit with Tsubasa and have coffee at Cafe Loveless.
Ada-A friend of Tsubasa’s that she goes dancing with. Fellow Gyaru!
Powers: She has a double pact from two dueling yokai with femme fatale energy.
Power Theme: Tsubasa’s abilities stem from two competing yokai (that she tricked) into giving her a minor touch of their protection/abilities. One is a Nekomata (a cat demon) and the other is a Jurogumo (a spider demon). It can be difficult at times to placate them, but Tsubasa is used to it and is fairly skilled at pacifying them. Her abilities from them tend to enhance her skills in Kunoichi work.
Rank C Ability: 'Silken Steel'- Tsubasa has the ability to create silken threads that are fairly strong. She can use these to climb, to fashion tools, and to tie up her target and restrain them. Threads that are strong enough to hold her weight. These are strong, but at rank C can be broken. Woven objects can be broken like a lock pick. Anything woven would dissolve after use. The threads have to come from somewhere, and it's likely that they are a type of protein.
Rank B Ability: Upgrade to 'Silken Steel'-This makes the threads about as strong as steel, dissolving after 20 minutes. All the perks of silken threads, but much stronger. Threads can reach 60ft in length. If she uses the ability too much, she does get a bit fatigued. She can also get a nauseous from over use, becoming weak.
Rank C Passive: Cat-like grace- This skill allows Tsubasa to have a ridiculous ability to balance, land on her feet, and squeeze into spaces. It takes her a bit of concentration, but her ability to climb into places she shouldn’t, to get into tight spaces and to keep her balance even in the worst places is peak. This girl lands on her feet! If she is feeling particularly deviant, you might see the hint of cat ears or a tail for just a moment before they are gone. It seems more of a glitchy thing that gives her away if she is not careful.
